A majestic cultural landmark hidden amongst the bustling city of Kuta, Vihara Dharmayana Kuta temple is an old Chinese temple. Located in the main coastal strip, it is also known as “Kongco Leeng Gwan Kuta” and dates back to year 1876. Devotees residing in the area ensure that the temple is well maintained; prayers & communal activities are taken place regularly especially during the Lunar New Year. When in search of accommodation in the area tourists could consider a stay at a Seminyak beach resort such as Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort & Spa.
Designed with eastern-styled architecture, the temple is a striking sight to see and a warm welcome from the ongoing traffic in the area. Step in to the courtyard of the temple and immediately feel a sense of peace. The smell of the lit incense sticks in the atmosphere adds to the spiritual ambience of the Vihara Dharmayana. The temple consists of a Main structure which is known as Baktisala. This is supported by huge red pillars wrapped by dragons and large round lanterns hanging from the roof. A smaller structure, known as Dharmasala is situated next to the bigger structure featuring Chinese figurines and is worshipped by families offering prayers. Prayers are also made to the Four Faced Buddha under the Banyan tree which is located opposite to the Baktisala. Tourists visiting the Vihara Dharmayana Kuta are requested to adhere to certain rules when visiting the temple. Keep in mind to be properly attired and avoid taking flash photographs inside prayer rooms.
